Nominate students for AoC Sport national hockey representative teams 2017-18

AoC Sport is delighted to announce the details of trials for the men’s and women’s national hockey representative teams for 2017-18.

Colleges are encouraged to nominate players who they consider to be of an appropriate standard for national representation. All players must be under-19s (as of 31 August 2017).

All nominations must be received by Wednesday 1 November, ahead of a two-stage trial process including a north/south trial, and a final national trial.

Please send nominations for the men’s team to Terry Lavery, and for the women’s team to Iain Burstow, via the below nomination form.

The south trial (to include South East, South West, East, London and West Midlands) will take place on Wednesday 15 November at Southampton Sports Centre. The trial will run from 12.00 – 4.00pm, with registration at 11.45am at Southampton Sports Centre, Thornhill Road, Bassett, Southampton, SO16 7AY.

The north trial (to include North East, North West, East Midlands, Yorkshire and Humberside, Scotland and Wales) will take place on Wednesday 15 November. The trial will run from 2.00-4.00pm, with registration at 1.45pm. The venue will be confirmed shortly.

There will then be a final trial at Cannock Hockey Club on Friday 1 December from 11.00am – 4.00pm with registration from 10.30am.

Players are expected to be of a club standard as a minimum and if selected would have to be willing to pay (with college support) money towards kit, accommodation, food etc.

For the men’s squad in previous years this has been £325 however this may increase slightly due to the increasing costs of kit/accommodation/pitch hire etc. Exact figures are being worked on and will come out in due course and the kit package will be confirmed by the final trial stage.
