2018 finalists announced in WorldSkills UK Fitness Trainer Competition

AoC Sport is pleased to announce the eight finalists for this year’s WorldSkills UK Fitness Trainer Competition.

Their performances in July’s heats earned them high enough scores to earn one of the coveted places in November’s showpiece at the NEC in Birmingham.

The 2018 finalists are:

  • Alysia Goodwin of Grimsby Institute of FE
  • Chris Trigwell of Trafford College
  • Katarzyna Katejko of City of Glasgow College
  • Kathryn Hinsley-Jones of Trafford College
  • Lawrence Edwards of University of Wales, Trinity St David’s
  • Lesley Jones of Coleg Gwet
  • Louise Wilson of Cornwall College
  • Stacey Davey of Coleg Gwent

The competitors will face three days of competition and be set a range of tasks, which are geared towards keeping up with the fast-paced and ever-changing fitness industry.

Previous tasks have included demonstrating new and innovative pieces of equipment, designing and delivering small group exercise classes and working with unknown and challenging clients – all under time constraints. Details of this year’s tasks are under wraps but expect some new and exciting challenges…

The competitors will be observed by all six of the judging team, led by Karen Stanton and will receive feedback from the full team. The team are brought together from industry experts who have been involved in the competition throughout the year and all have backgrounds in fitness education as well as working as personal trainers and coaches.

To get to know our finalists and judges, keep an eye on articles and profile on the website in the coming weeks.
