AoC Sport receives investment from The FA for College Grassroots Hubs – apply here

AoC Sport is delighted to announce it has secured funding in partnership with the Football Association until 2020, to fund 100 College Grassroots Hubs until July 2020 (subject to performance). 78 of the College Hubs from last year’s programme have been selected to transition into the new College Grassroots Hubs model.  We now have an exclusive opportunity for 22 more colleges to come on board, who can access the funding to invest in their college and community to grow participation in football.

If you wish to apply to become a College Grassroots Hub please apply through this link – successful applicants will be awarded tier three status and receive £600 to grow and develop college and community football for the remainder of this academic year. Movement between tiers 1-3 is possible from the summer of 2018 upon request and will be reviewed annually subject to performance.

All new College Grassroots Hubs will be expected to recruit a male and female student activator to facilitate and deliver activity, with the overarching aim of engaging 100 participants (30% female, 10% disability and 10% Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic groups) from the college and local community in regular football activity.

The 100 Hubs in 2016-17 engaged 31,323 participants and over 3700 volunteers. Independent research showed the football hub activity helped tackle inactivity (9% of players had not played football before attending the hub increased students ambitions to progress onto further study and potential students to apply to college (71% of players stated that they were more likely to consider applying to college or University. Other independent research also highlighted the role football plays in improving students’ attainment (78% of respondents agreed or strongly agreed), attendance (72%), employability (89%), mental well-being (74%) and their student experience (87%).
