AoC Sport’s place on new-look FA Council ratified at AGM

AoC Sport is delighted to announce that our place on the Football Association Council has been ratified, following The FA’s AGM.

The board of The FA proposed a seat for AoC Sport on FA Council in March, subject to Council and AGM approval, as part of a series of proposals by The FA board to reform the organisation’s corporate governance. The proposals included the addition of 11 new members to the FA Council, to ensure it better reflects the inclusive and diverse nature of English football.

AoC Sport will now provide the voice for the further education sector.

AoC Sport’s chair, Mark White OBE, said: “This is fantastic news for both AoC Sport and the further education sector.

“For colleges to have a voice at this level enables us to continue progressing football in further education, across each of the pillars of the English Colleges Football Association (ECFA) – Competition, Participation, Workforce, Community and Governance.

“It is also perfect timing following the launch of our new four-year ECFA strategy at yesterday’s National Football Conference, in which we outline our ambitions for growing college football and our tactics for achieving them.

“AoC Sport very much looks forward to contributing to the work of the FA Council. We are sure this will be an excellent opportunity for colleges, and will see football in further education flourish.”

We will shortly begin the process of selecting our representative, who will be best-placed to provide a voice for colleges and the further education sector as a whole, to help enhance provision of opportunities through football.
