Both England College national teams to compete in international tournament

For the first time the English Colleges women’s squad will be joining the men’s at the Roma Caput Mundi tournament in Rome next week.

Both sets of players and staff are flying out to Italy on Sunday to compete in the five-day international tournament.

Following a two-phase trial period, a training camp at St George’s Park and a number of domestic fixtures, the squads are ready and raring to compete on the international stage.

Lauren O’Sullivan, AoC Sport National Football Development Manager, said: “The Roma Caput Mundi is a fantastic player development opportunity for our players in the England College national team programmes.

“We are delighted to receive an invitation for our women’s team to join the tournament for the first time this year, which adds huge value to the England Colleges experience.

“Our teams will compete with national youth teams from across Europe. We’re really proud of the programme and our volunteer staff who provide a really unique and high-quality experience for players to develop themselves as players and as people.

“I would like to extend my personal thanks to our excellent England Colleges staff team and our partners who make this programme possible. I wish the players the best of luck for the tournament and beyond!”

Team’s competing in the women’s tournament include C.R. Abruzzo, C.R. Tuscany, C.R. Veneto, C.R. Lazio and Wales Colleges (Welsh Colleges FA)

 English Colleges Women’s Team fixtures:

·         Monday, February 18th : ECFA vs C.R. Veneto

·         Tuesday, February 19th : ECFA vs C.R. Lazio

·         Thursday, February 21st : C.R. Abruzzo vs ECFA

·         The final match of the tournament will be played Friday, February 22nd

The team’s competing in the men’s tournament are: Kosovo, Malta, Moldova, Greece (EPS Pellas), Wales Colleges (Welsh Colleges FA), Italian National Amateur League (Italy/LND) and C.R. Lazio

 English Colleges Men’s Team fixtures:

·         Monday, February 18th : ECFA vs Malta

·         Tuesday, February 19th : Kosovo vs ECFA

·         Thursday, February 21st  : England vs C.R Lazio

·         The final match of the tournament will be played Friday, February 22nd
