Female Fitness Festival proves glowing success with Merseyside colleges
More than 60 girls from colleges across Merseyside got their groove on last month, when they joined AoC Sport and Merseyside Sports Partnership at our Female Fitness Festival.
The event, hosted at the Florrie in Liverpool, saw students from Southport College, Hugh Baird College, Knowsley Community College, Wirral Met College, King George V College and Liverpool City College take part in taster sessions including Zumba, glow-in-the-dark Clubbercise, Piloxing and Boxercise.
Staff from the colleges targeted specific subject groups to bring along girls who don’t normally take part in any sport or physical activity.
The event was aimed at giving girls the opportunity to try a range of activities for the first time and engaged a variety of students from a diverse range of backgrounds.
The Female Fitness Festival was used to inspire many young women to get involved in more sport and physical activity and each college who took part chose an activity from the festival to bring back to college for eight weeks of free Sportivate funded sessions.
