AoC Sport and British Rowing encouraging students and staff to Go Row Indoor in February

AoC Sport is delighted to announce an exciting opportunity for college staff and students to take part in British Rowing’s Go Row Indoor College Challenge.

The challenge is to see how far you can row in one minute, with a men’s and women’s winner crowned at the end for the furthest distance rowed. There will also be two people drawn at random to win Mizuno kit.

To take part in the challenge, all you need to do is row for a minute, take a photo of your distance and enter your result online. You can then share your result on social media and challenge your friends to see how far they can row in a minute.

The Go Row Indoor College Challenge is open to all college students and staff members and runs from 4 February until 4 March.

AoC Sport Development Manager Laura Danskin, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for students to take part in an organised virtual competition that allows participants to take part at any time to suit them.

“Students can access machines at college or in their local gyms – it’s free to enter, only requires one rowing machine and one minute of their time.

“Participants can also compare their distances completed against others across the country, so we would really like to see as many colleges as possible take part.”

There will be prizes for the furthest distance rowed by a male and female student in one minute, the furthest distance rowed by a male and female staff member in one minute, as well as prizes for two participants, drawn at random.

British Rowing Indoor Rowing Project Manager, Chris Farrell, said: “We hope that the Go Row Indoor College Challenge inspires both students and staff to take part in one of the fitness trends of 2019.

“With indoor rowing working 85% of muscles, and providing a low impact, high intensity workout, indoor rowing is the perfect workout, particularly if you’re short on time. The one-minute challenge is a great way to get started on the indoor rowing machine and to show your friends just how fit and strong you are.”
