New ‘Towards Outstanding’ publication to be launched at AoC Sport in the Curriculum Conference
AoC Sport has refreshed the national standards for college sport in our new ‘Towards Outstanding’ document.
Following the success of the first national standards published in 2013, the refreshed standards align with the 2015 Ofsted common inspection framework and the recently published AoC Sport strategy (Fit for College, Fit for Work, Fit for Life).
The Towards Outstanding Framework has provided colleges with the ability to self-assess the quality of the sport and physical activity provision in order to increase the participation for all college students. The refreshed standards have a clear focus on;
- Ensuring all students are physically fit for work by embedding sport and physical activity within the college.
- Providing opportunities for all college students to participate in activities that suit their needs.
- Highlighting the impact having a healthy lifestyle can have on personal achievement, retention and attainment.
- How effective partnerships with community sport and recreation organisations can bring all curriculum areas to life.
Towards Outstanding 2015 will be launched at the AoC Sport in the Curriculum Conference on 26 January at Hollywell Park Loughborough.
