Opportunity to be AoC Sport’s FA Council representative
AoC Sport is recruiting for a representative on The Football Association Council, representing AoC Sport and the FE sector.
AoC Sport is in the privileged position of having a place on the Football Association Council. We require someone to represent AoC Sport and provide the voice for colleges and the further education sector as a whole, on a voluntary basis.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A detailed knowledge of and passion for the FE sector
- A deep understanding of the football landscape in England
- An ability to operate and influence in a complex political environment.
We are particularly interested in applications which reflect under-represented groups in football development: women, ethnic minorities.
In accordance with Standing Order 45 of the Standing Orders of Council, no new Member of Council may be appointed if he or she is 65 years old or more at the time of the appointment; and no existing Member of Council (other than those who have served continuously since 1990) may be reappointed if he or she has attained the age of 75 years at the time of the reappointment.
The successful candidate will be required to attend four FA Council meetings per year. They are held in Wembley Stadium in the daytime. Council meets on the following dates in the 2019/20 season: 17 October 2019, 23 January 2020, 2 April 2020 and 21 May 2020. The representative will also need to attend meetings of the Adult Participation Sub Committee and Youth Participation Sub Committee. There are up to three meetings of each committee each year, also at Wembley Stadium.
The position is voluntary and is not remunerated but travelling expenses are covered. There are also free tickets available for Council members for a number of England football internationals.
