Sport England announce funding for the FE sector

We are pleased to announce that the Sport England Board have approved funding for colleges and the FE Sector as part of ‘Towards an Active Nation’, Sport England’s 2016-2021 Strategy.

The initial funding for colleges will be for two years at a value of £2.5 million per year.  In keeping with the new Sport England strategy the Board has given a clear steer that the focus going forward should be on engaging inactive students in sport and physical activity and colleges should remain bold in their ambition to do so.

Current funding through Active Colleges is around £5m per year. Therefore the new funding will be more targeted at colleges who can demonstrate that they are willing and able to deliver specifically against the inactivity agenda highlighted in the Sport England strategy.

You will be able to find out about opportunities to apply for this targeted funding on the Sport England website, The College Sport Hub and via the AoC Sport network.  Sport England are not yet in a position to confirm when this information will be available, but they hope to be able share further information as soon as possible in the New Year.

Please note that there will be other investment funds for which Colleges are also eligible in the future.  Please take the time to read the Sport England strategy ‘Towards an Active Nation’ or visit the website – www.sportengland.org/funding/new-funding-when-to-apply
