Tennis Foundation offer funding to grow tennis in colleges
The Tennis Foundation are looking to work with 30 colleges across England, Scotland and Wales over the 2017–2018 academic year to grow the sport in FE.
Applications are welcome from colleges who are looking to grow and develop their current tennis programme, with the successful 30 colleges receiving £900, a training resource and a hoodie for a student ambassador.
A national funding panel has been created that includes the FE Education Projects Manager, a representative from the LTA regional team and a representative from AoC Sport. The panel will make the final decision on which colleges we will fund. Please read the guidance notes for a breakdown of expectations, and the processes for 2017-2018.
The deadline for applications is Friday 15 September and all applications need to be sent to your regional team (details below). Your regional team can also provide any help and guidance that you may require.

Funding released to colleges
Colleges will receive two tranches of funding, £500 in October 2017, and £400 in March 2018 (subject to termly contact with LTA regional teams, and attendance at the FE National Training Day).
FE National Training Day
On Tuesday 7 November 2017 the Tennis Foundation will be holding an inspirational FE National Training Day at Loughborough University. This will be an opportunity for staff and students to engage with other colleges who have received funding, share previous successes and challenges and develop your plans further with your LTA regional teams. There will be off-court workshops and plenty of time on court to help you deliver tennis across your college. Successful applicants will be sent further information but please save this date in your diary at this stage.
Expectations of Funding
In return for this funding the Tennis Foundation are looking for colleges to meet the following targets and milestones;
- 200 young people picking up a racket
- 50 young people playing for six weeks or more
- 10 students to receive some specific tennis training
- Termly catch ups with your LTA regional team
- Attendance at FE National Training Day
In order to help you plan your application, and think how you could look to achieve these expectations, please see the attached ideas and best practice below.
