The FA People’s Cup comes to Further Education in line with The FA and Football Foundation £300,000 Futsal Fund
AoC Sport, in partnership with The FA, is delighted to announce an exciting opportunity for your college to deliver the magic of the Emirates FA Cup on your doorstep through a bespoke Further Education FA People’s Cup category.
Students can live the Emirates FA Cup journey as they progress through the rounds, with one male and one female team eventually lifting the trophy at Wembley Stadium connected by EE on the day of this season’s Emirates FA Cup Final. The Further Education category is the only FA People’s Cup category to be Futsal orientated. Following clear appetite from the Further Education sector for a Futsal offer, The FA People’s Cup marks the start of that pathway. This Futsal opportunity is perfectly timed with The FA and Football Foundation launching £300,000 Futsal Fund which prioritises investment for AoC Sport member colleges.
AoC Sport is now looking to utilise this great opportunity to launch Futsal provision for the FE sector. Through delivering the FA People’s Cup, it will provide colleges with the following:
- Opportunity to participate in a national competition
- Increase the number of Futsal recreational players within college
- Support the kick-start of a Futsal competition pathway within FE
- Increase the profile of your college on a regional and national level
- Opportunity to lift the trophy at Wembley Stadium at the Emirates FA Cup Final
Colleges who do not have the equipment to support the delivery of Futsal have the opportunity to apply for a Football Foundation grant which will support colleges with Futsal goals, Futsal-specific balls along with funding to support upskilling of student referees.
Any college looking to apply for the grant should be aiming to engage with their local County FA to not only bring Futsal to college students but also the local community. Please click here for further information and funding application. For any additional support please contact AoC Sport National Football Development Officer, Matt Dandy on Matt_Dandy@aoc.co.uk.
Matt Dandy said: “The addition of an FE-specific FA People’s Cup category presents an incredible opportunity for the sector. It will enable colleges to raise profile or their work regionally and nationally.
“Futsal has great growth capacity within FE and with the FA’s backing and support, AoC Sport is dedicated to supporting the creation of a Futsal competition pathway. The additional opportunity to secure funding through The FA and Football Foundation’s £300,000 Futsal investment will enable successful colleges to have the correct equipment to deliver futsal on a sustainable basis both for students and the local community. I would encourage colleges to apply for this fund alongside applying to host a Further Education FA People’s Cup category.”
Andy Dyke, The FA’s National Participation Manager said: “We are delighted to be able to offer a bespoke Further Education Futsal category in this season’s FA People’s Cup. With the growth of Futsal in recent years it was important to look at how we could incorporate it into the competition and this is the perfect fit. Working alongside AoC Sport we look forward to welcoming colleges to the FA People’s Cup and can’t wait to see some great matches come kick off in February.”
