This Girl Can ambassadors attend London training day

Earlier this month our 66 This Girl Can ambassadors attended a training day at The Orbit in London’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

Students were selected from colleges across the country following a strong application process, and enjoyed sessions from Sports Leaders UK, Managing Director of sport marketing agency We Are Disrupt (and fitness blogger) Emma Lax, and Kate Dale from Sport England.

The ambassadors will now promote local This Girl Can activities – both in college and the community – to other students in their colleges, particularly those that are currently inactive. They have been tasked to put together project plans for AoC Sport staff to review, before putting their plans into action and engaging as many females as possible. Each college that attended the training day has been given £250 of investment for their ambassadors to use on their plans.

AoC Sport’s North West Regional Operations Officer, Alyson Hastie, who helped run the training day, said: “The event was a fantastic way to kick-start our This Girl Can ambassador programme. We had a brilliant, enthusiastic group of ambassadors attend the day, and they all seemed to be inspired by not only the guest speakers we had, but also but each other.

“We are really excited to see what project ideas the girls come up with and the impact they can have in their colleges and communities.”

To assist our This Girl Can ambassadors, as well as all students and colleges, we have produced a resource pack with guidance on how to implement initiatives and get girls active.
