Trentham and Overall AoC Sport Open Golf Championship Results

The second event of the AoC Sport Open Golf Championships took place at the beautiful Trentham Golf Club on Wednesday, 16 March 2022.

There was a good turnout for the event with 67 players in total (53 men and 14 female) from 17 differing colleges / institutions from across the AoC Sport regions.

Trentham Open Golf Event

Steady rain set in for the day which was challenging for the players and was ultimately labelled as “wash out Wednesday”.  This resulted in all the players being pulled off the course after the last players to tee off had reached the 9th hole.  All results were then calculated on the first 9 holes.

Despite the weather we had some amazing scores and notably an eagle score on the third hole from Josh Millington, South Gloucestershire & Stroud College (SGS).

In the Women’s Gross competition Katie Stephens from Middlesbrough College won with 39 shots over nine holes, 2nd Sophie Paige, Hartpury College and in 3rd place was Cara Patient, Itchen College.

The Men’ s Gross Competition decided on count back with 34 shots over the nine holes was Drew Mackinnon, Itchen College, 2nd Charlie Box, Loughborough College and 3rd place was Louis Ross, (SGS).

In the Women’s Nett competition Cara Patient, Itchen College came in ahead of Sophie Paige, Hartpury College and Izabella Speck Birmingham Metropolitan College (BMet).

The Men’s Nett winner on count back – James Scratchard, Huddersfield New College, 2nd Jake Attiwell, SGS and in 3rd place Drew Mackinnon, Itchen College.

In a closely contested team competition Itchen College came in as the winners with a combined score of 110 (over 9 holes) and on count back in 2nd place with 112 SGS and then Hartpury College with 115.
