Volunteers needed for 2019 National Championships

We are now recruiting college students for the unique opportunity to volunteer  at the 2019 AoC Sport National Championships – the largest college sporting event in the UK.

The Championships, which take place at the University of Nottingham from 26-28 April, involves nearly 1,700 students and 300 staff and wouldn’t be possible without the help of volunteers.

There are a range of roles available across 13 sports, including scoring, registration, court organiser, general event volunteers and helping with the opening ceremony. There is also the opportunity to help with photography and social media using Snapchat and Instagram.

Students don’t necessarily have to have volunteered in sport before but we are also looking for some volunteers with specific knowledge and experience in basketball, golf, hockey and volleyball.

Volunteers will need to make their own way to Nottingham (travel costs will be paid by AoC Sport) on Thursday 25 April and be available until Sunday 28 April.

We are looking for students who are:

  • Good communicators
  • Team players
  • Reliable
  • Enthusiastic.

The benefits of volunteering include:

  • Food
  • Accommodation (if travelling from outside the East Midlands)
  • Kit
  • Travel expenses
  • Meet new people
  • New experiences
  • Certificate.

Vicky, from Walsall College volunteered last year and said:

“My experience at the University of Nottingham was amazing. Seeing lots of different talented individuals and meeting new people has been the highlight of my weekend.

Volunteering with AoC Sport has given me many different opportunities that I wouldn’t have experienced otherwise. Volunteering has been the best thing that I could have done I wouldn’t change it for anything.”

How to apply

To apply students must sign up to the AoC Sport Leadership Academy by completing this form.

If students are already part of the Leadership Academy (e.g. A This Girl Can Ambassador or AoC Sport Leader) they will have received information on how to apply without registering again.
